Hungary is the 11th most popular country as a tourist destination in Europe, attracting 14.3 million international tourists in 2015. The country is home to the world’s largest thermal water cave system and the second largest thermal lake – „Hévíz” in Hungarian, the largest lake in Central Europe – Lake Balaton – and Europe’s largest natural grasslands – The Great Hungarian Plain or „Alföld” in Hungarian.
Hungary has a continental climate, with hot summers with low overall humidity levels but frequent rain showers and cold snowy winters. Average high temperature in the summer is 23 to 28 °C (73 to 82 °F) and average low temperature in the winter is −3 to −7 °C (27 to 19 °F).

Hungary is a European country with about 10 million inhabitants. Spanning 93,030 square kilometers (35,920 sq. mi) in the Carpathian Basin, it borders Slovakia, Ukraine, Austria, Romania, Serbia Croatia, Slovenia.
Hungary joined the European Union in 2004 and has been part of the Schengen Area since 2007. Also, member of the United Nations, NATO, WTO, World Bank, the AIIB, the Council of Europe, the Visegrád Group and more.
Hungary is a unitary, parliamentary, representative democratic republic. MPs are elected every four years in a single-round first-past-the-post election with an election threshold of 5%. Together they represent the highest organ of state authority. The Prime Minister is elected by the National Assembly, serving as the head of government and exercising executive power. The PM has the right to select Cabinet ministers and has the exclusive right to dismiss them. Their approval is formally signed by the President of the Republic who is elected by the National Assembly every five years.
The official language is Hungarian, the 13th most widely spoken first language in Europe with around 13 million native speakers. It’s also one of the official languages of the European Union. There are many rural dialects spoken countrywide, though standard Hungarian is based on the variety spoken in Budapest. An interesting fact is that Hungarian is a member of the Uralic language family and distantly related to Finnish and Estonian.
